All
of our scorekeepers need to have a very good understanding of the “rules
summary” sent. If you do not prepare, it will not go well as the referees will
let us know. No worries – just be prepared!
Our
scorekeepers will need to keep the chairs for the team benches spaced apart.
At Crockett, you will need to let every team know we need spacing between
players sitting on the bench. After the game, scorekeepers are to wipe down the
player area and then help the Team Volunteers wiping down the fan area.
We
likely need our scorekeepers to help our gym supervisor to get everyone to
immediately exit when the game ends. The gym empties after each game.
Reminders/Notes:
Wear your mask. Bring wipes for yourself as needed. Wash your hands throughout
the day. Text Greg if you have a problem.
On
the scorer’s table, there will be a scorebook and a league book. Should a
technical be called, we need the sheet in the league book completed. If it is a
player, get the first, last name and number. If it is a coach or fan, get the
first and last name. If you have to ask another adult or one of the coaches for
help getting that info, please do that.
Every
scorekeeper pairing on the schedule except one has at least one person that
worked last year. It is typically easier for the less experienced scorekeeper
to keep the scoreboard. Those of you with experience, please help your new
friend for the day.
At
BMS, we have to roll the chairs over and put chairs out as a team bench.
At
the end of the night following the last games, we will need to put the chairs
up and return the gym to the condition for the start of the day.
Gym
scoreboards:
Lipscomb
and Crockett have the same scoreboard type. There will be a main controller at
the scorer’s table. Edmondson and Jordan will use a smaller portable electronic
scoreboard. BMS uses a tablet for the scoreboard.
Prior
to the game, the scorekeeper working the book will need to get player numbers
and names from the head coach. The rosters are in the scorebook. If a player is
not listed, they are NOT eligible to play.
At
Crockett for 5/6YO Coed play, each player at halftime would shoot one free
throw. Any made count as a point. To speed up the process, let’s have each
scorekeeper work with each team. Line everyone up. Free throw is 3’ shorter
than the traditional foul line. We expect to have the line marked.
