We did open our registration for the spring 2021 season on December 1st and have had a few ask about how teams are formed. Below is that info, which we hope is helpful.

4/5YO, 6YO Baseball
– These teams are formed based on parent requests for a particular head coach or for specific teammates. If a parent does not have a specific request, we will try to place on a team that makes sense geographically.
– Any questions about the minimum age allowed, just let us know.

7YO, 8YO, 9YO, 10YO, 11/12YO Rec Division Baseball
– These teams are formed based on a certain number of protected players and the remaining roster is filled via a draft.
– The protected count starts at 6 and does include coach’s players. It is possible we would have more than 6. The dependency is based on how many desired protected players each coach starts with.
– Every player in this age division receives a player skill rating. That rating can be A (most skilled), B, C or D (least skilled).
– Player ratings are determined by the league through recent coach ratings and/or the skill assessments that will occur on or around 02/07/21. Every player should expect to be required to attend.
– After each player has a letter skill rating, we then take the protected players by team and place them into a round based on player skill. Below is an example of how a draft would look for a team:
1 – protected player1 (A rating) is slotted to this round
2 – protected player2 (A rating) is slotted to this round
3 – head coach to draft a player here
4 – protected player3 (B rating) is slotted to this round
5 – protected player4 (B rating) is slotted to this round
6 – head coach to draft a player here
7 – protected player5 (C rating) is slotted to this round
8 – head coach to draft a player here
9 – head coach to draft a player here
10 – protected player6 (D rating) is slotted to this round
11 – head coach to draft a player here or league may assign based on parent request
12 – head coach to draft a player here or league may assign based on parent request
– Our goal is to balance competitiveness of the teams while getting as many players as possible to their desired coach or teammate.

13/14YO, 14/15YO, 16/18YO Rec Division Baseball
– While these teams are formed primarily based on parent requests for a particular head coach or for specific teammates, we will work with our head coaches in an effort to ensure each team is competitive.

5/6YO Softball
– These teams are formed based on parent requests for a particular head coach or for specific teammates.
– If a parent does not have a specific request, we will try to place their player on a team that makes sense geographically.

7/8YO, 9/10YO Division B, 11/13YO Softball
– While these teams are formed primarily based on parent requests for a particular head coach or for specific teammates, we will work with our head coaches in an effort to ensure each team is competitive.
– For 7/8YO and 9/10YO divisions, there is an A division (most competitive) and B division (recreation). Most of our teams will be in the B division.

9/10YO Division A Softball
– Teams in this division are typically created based on a coach having a complete roster. It is possible that some coaches might need a player or two.

For Travel Baseball (i.e. those teams playing in our “open division”), head coaches form their rosters. If any share tryout info or that they are looking for players, we will share that info.
